Enough is Enough demonstration

Members of the Chichester and Arun Green party joined residents lining the A259 today as part of the Mayday Action Group-organised protest against the destruction of Chichester Harbour and its villages from overdevelopment and the regular release of raw sewage into the harbour, among other threats.

Cllr Sarah Sharp (Green, Chichester South), cycled along the route with members of Chi Cycle, before stopping at Highgrove Farm, the proposed site for 295 houses that is much hated by most local people, to chat with residents and the co-chairs of the Bosham Association.

Chichester and Arun Green Party shares local campaign groups’ belief that the area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) is under severe threat.

Press officer for the Chichester and Arun Green Party, and candidate for the Harbour Villages ward, Georgie Armour Glasius said: “It’s great to see so many people lining the road today in recognition of what the Green Party has been highlighting for a long time. The prioritisation of profits over people and our environment has led to the shocking pollution of our waterways, to roads ever more congested and to wildlife in peril. Tinkering around the edges isn’t going to cut it. We need a wholesale change of perspective and we need it now.”
