September 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to the September 2024 newsletter from your local Green Party. Thank you for being part of our positive campaign for Real Hope and Real Change.

Green Talk – housing and planning

A huge area of concern for all of us is the need for sustainable and appropriate planning developments. What is the current situation locally? What is your local Green Party’s position? And how can you get involved in the National Planning Policy Framework consultation? Please join us on Zoom, Friday 20 September at 7pm, to hear from our hard-working local councillors, and join in the discussion.

Local campaigning

Over the coming months we’ll be getting our positive Green message out to as many people as possible. We’ll be listening to local concerns, providing feedback and support to our constituents, and encouraging new voters to consider Green.

We’re already looking forward to the West Sussex County Council elections next year – where we expect to elect many more Green representatives! Want to know more about standing as one of our County Councillors? Please contact us, and have a look at the West Sussex County Council website.

Can you help? Our councillors, members, and volunteers will be delivering leaflets, distributing 60 second surveys, and canvassing across many of our wards. You can expect a warm welcome, and full training will be provided.

Social events

Come and join us for the monthly litter pick on Littlehampton beach, and / or a coffee and a chat in The Beach Cafe, Sea Road, Littlehampton (opposite The Wave leisure centre).

To join the beach clean, please meet at 9.30am by the Shack, where the grabbers, gloves and bags are all provided. A member of the Beach team will lead the clean.

Afterwards, we’ll have a coffee in the cafe, from around 11am. It can get busy, so please sign up to let us know to look out for you!
Yes – I can join on Sunday 29 September

Several members will also be attending the great line up of films showing at A Greener Screen festival in Chichester. If you’d like to meet with others before one of the screenings, please contact us in advance. Tickets are selling fast, so you’ll need to book!

Members updates

A reminder that our next branch meeting is Tuesday 8 October, 7pm on Zoom. All members are welcome to join us, and non-members can be admitted by prior arrangement.~

We’re now starting to plan ahead for our Annual General Meeting. Are you interested in helping out as a local officer? We’re a friendly team and there’s definitely a role for you! Please get in touch if you’d like more details.
